Africa Nature Training was founded in South Africa in 2002 as a company dedicated to conservation and environmental training. We specialise in training nature guides. Our programmes focus on providing quality education for those individuals wishing to pursue a career in nature guiding and also for people who are simply passionate about nature. We have a dedicated training team comprised of staff and volunteers whose mission is to share their knowledge and enthusiasm!
Our inspiration comes from a Senegalese ecologist, Baba Dioum, whose statement on the header of our website explains our motivation to teach people about nature.
Although we are not environmental activists, we strongly believe in taking the best possible care that we can of our environment...after all, it's the only one we have! At all times we strive to minimise our environmental footprint by making an effort to implement recycling practices. This is done at our camp as well as our office.
As part of our philosophy of providing quality education, our environmental training courses are aligned with the curricula set by the Field Guides Association of Southern Africa (FGASA) and the relevant unit standards of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). Not only do our courses exceed these criteria in terms of theoretical and field content, they also contain an important conservation element. Organisations such as the Endangered Wildlife Trust and BirdLife South Africa endorse our products and services as having an invaluable conservation message.
We are FGASA accredited Training Providers, Accreditation no. A6436/17/TP and SAPS accredited Training Providers, Accreditation no. 1100618.
